Incredibly thankful for the Owlet Smart Sock

Incredibly thankful for the Owlet Smart Sock

I'll start by saying how incredibly thankful my family is for the Owlet Smart Sock. My husband and I made the purchase because we are first time parents, and understandably, a little paranoid. We are forever grateful that we made this ‘paranoid’ purchase. At 10 days old, our Sock notified us that our son's heart-rate was unusually high. I thought maybe it was a misread, so I turned the base station off, and turned it back on hoping it was just a mishap. Again we got a red notification for a high heart-rate. I tried turning it off and on a couple more times, and the notification was still blaring. We decided to take our baby to the ER despite the fact that he was sleeping ‘peacefully’. He showed no signs of distress.

When we got to the ER, Max's heart-rate was over 300 bpm. They had to shock him back into a normal heart rhythm multiple times. Do you know how they shock a baby back? A bag of ice directly on their face. It was absolutely terrifying. Once his heart-rate was under control, they moved us to the pediatric ICU. After a couple more episodes of the high heart rate, shocking him back, and countless doctors, we were told that our baby was experiencing SVT- supra-ventricular tachycardia. The doctors asked how we even knew this was happening to our son. They said it is extremely rare that it's caught, especially so early on. Most of the time it is too late or by the time it's caught, it has caused irreversible heart damage. We explained to the hospital staff that we had the Owlet Smart Sock and they were all amazed. Everyone was talking about this little Sock and how it helped us save our baby's life.

Fast forward to now- Max is now 7 months old and thriving! He is on a beta-blocker for his heart and is doing beautifully. He has not had one single heart incident since we left the hospital on his medication. He will stay on it 3x per day until his first birthday when he is weaned off. There is no permanent damage, and we are so incredibly blessed to still have our son with us. We recommend the Owlet Smart Sock to all new parents and expecting parents. This product literally helped us save our baby's life and we still use it every single day! - Jenny B.
