  • Does Owlet guarantee the safety of my baby?
  • No. The Owlet Baby Monitor is meant to help you and your pediatrician be aware of possible indicators of danger, but your baby's safety is your responsibility. Check out our full disclaimer here.
  • Which age group is Owlet for?
  • Owlet will fit your child up to one year and fits most children up to eighteen months old. The Owlet is designed for babies up to 25 lbs.
  • What comes in the box?
  • You will receive the base station, sock electronics, three sock sizes to fit your child as they grow, a paper manual and charging cords.
  • Is WiFi required?
  • The Smart Sock and Base Station connect via Bluetooth low energy. WiFi is only needed if you would like to use the app to view live readings and view them remotely. The Base Station is the primary notification system, so if your WiFi goes down or your phone dies (or you don't have it at all), the Base Station is still designed to notify. While WiFi is not required, it does make for a better user experience. HotSpot WiFi is not recommended.  
  • Can the Owlet fit under footie pajamas?
  • Yes! The Owlet Smart Sock is low profile and will even fit under a regular sock. Just make sure the Smart Sock is directly next to the skin and be sure there's enough room for your baby's foot to fit comfortably and that the sock or footie pajamas aren't too snug.
  • Is it washable?
  • Yes, the fabric sock can be washed. Just make sure to remove the Sock Electronics prior to washing. We recommend hand washing the fabric sock with gentle detergent.
  • Are there different sizes?
  • Yes, the Smart Sock 2 comes with 3 fabric socks (size 1-3) with a universal fit that fits up to 18 months or 25 pounds.
  • Is there a warranty?
  • Yes, we offer a 1-year warranty from the date of purchase. Please contact our team if you need assistance. We are not responsible for household damage done to the product.
  • Do you have a satisfaction guarantee?
  • We offer a 45-day satisfaction, return for any reason, make you happy guarantee. Just email us and we will give you a full refund no questions asked.
  • Is it a considered a medical device?
  • No, Owlet is not a medical device. Owlet is only intended to be a health and wellness device and does not claim to prevent, diagnose or treat any medical condition.
  • Will this have any negative long-term effects?
  • Pulse oximetry has been used in US hospitals since 1987 and no long-term effects have been found. Pulse oximetry traditionally does not burn or harm patients and we have taken further steps to minimize any risk. If used as advised, it should not cause any harm to your baby.
  • How long do the batteries last?
  • You never need to change the battery. The sock is powered by a coin cell rechargeable battery (like what you’ll find in your wristwatch). However, your sock will need to be charged daily.
  • Can my spouse and I both monitor our child via our smartphones?
  • Both parents may access their child's information and health statistics on the app over their respective smartphones allowing both to track their child.
  • What if my phone doesn't have service or is on silent, or my home wifi goes out? Does the Owlet itself make a noise?
  • Yes! The Base Station is your primary notification system for the Owlet. While you won’t be able to see live readings, the Base Station is designed to notify you if your baby's heart rate or oxygen levels fall out of range.
  • Does Owlet have a sound or video monitor?
  • In this version, no. However, we will explore adding features to our future products. Keep up to date on our products by checking out our Owlet Products page.
  • Will Owlet ship internationally?
  • Owlet Baby Care, Inc. ships only to Australia, Canada and the United States of America, including Alaska and Hawaii.
  • What if the baby monitor falls off?
  • You will be notified if the monitor is not getting valid readings and if the sock has fallen off.
  • Does Owlet work with twins/multiples?
  • Owlet was not designed for twins. We do plan on developing a more twin friendly version. Right now the app only works with one device at a time. You can use two Owlet monitors in your home, you just need two base stations, two socks, and two devices (or you can log out and back in from the same device).
  • What is Owlet's Disclaimer?
  • The Owlet Smart Sock can pick up external movements and it is therefore not suitable for co-sleeping or bed-sharing. It is advisable not to use the Smart Sock when the baby is in motion, e.g. in a car seat or a stroller. This is not a medical device and is not intended for use as a medical device or to replace a medical device. The Owlet Baby Monitor is only intended to assist you in tracking your baby’s wellbeing and is not intended to replace you as a caregiver. You are ultimately responsible for your baby. This device is not intended to cure, treat, or prevent any disease or health condition, including, but not limited to, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
  • Does it come in different colors?
  • Yes, our fabric socks come in a variety of colors from blue, pink, and mint along with limited edition patterns. Check out our Owlet Products today.
  • How does Owlet Smart Sock work?
  • The Sock Electronics use pulse oximetry to gather your baby's heart rate and oxygen levels. The electronics send your baby's heart rate and oxygen levels to the Base Station. The Base Station then sends your baby's heart rate and oxygen levels to your smartphone. See it in action here.
  • What is pulse oximetry?
  • You might have experienced this technology at the doctor's office. Pulse oximetry is in the little red clip they put on your finger when you go to the hospital. A small light shines through your skin and the amount of blood flow and oxygen levels are estimated based on how much light is transmitted to a sensor.
  • Which frequency does Owlet use?
  • Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy (2.4 GHz). The Owlet Monitor will not receive interference from home alarms, cellphones or other electronics.
  • How long will the pulse oximeter last?
  • The pulse oximeter is guaranteed under warranty for one (1) year.
  • What type of waves and frequency?
  • 915Hz or 2.4 GHz. The Owlet Baby Monitor will not receive interference from home alarms, cellphones or other electronics.
  • Will the radio waves generated from the device harm my baby?
  • No, the monitor is not always on and it is using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to communicate periodically to your phone. The radio waves generated from the device are more than twenty times below that of the cellphones that are carried in our pockets all day.
  • How is this technology different from other monitors on the market?
  • All other monitors require you to be constantly watching your baby to notice if something goes wrong. Owlet is the only monitor that uses clinically-proven technology, designed to notify you if your baby's heart rate or oxygen levels fall out of range.
  • Which iOS devices are compatible with the Owlet companion app?
  • The Owlet companion app is compatible with these devices running iOS 9.3 or later: iPad 2nd generation or newer, iPad mini, iPod 5th generation or newer, and iPhone 4s or newer.
  • Which Android devices are compatible with the Owlet companion app?
  • The Owlet companion app is compatible with devices running Android 4.4 (KITKAT) or higher. Learn more details here.
  • What if I don't have a smartphone?
  • You can use any other Apple device as well! That means you can use an iPhone, iPad, or iPod as long as that device's software is using iOS 9.3 or later.
  • What is Connected Care?
  • Connected Care is a new companion app from Owlet that works by visualizing the historical data collected from your Smart Sock. The app also allows parents to access their baby’s sleep trends and analytics - a powerful tool to help parents create bedtime routines and develop healthy sleep habits.   • How much does Connected Care cost?
  • Connected Care is free. Every Owlet user will receive free usage of Connected Care app to see health and data trends, however, users will need to download this app separately.
  • Does Connected Care work with twins or multiples?
  • Connected Care does not currently support multiple child profiles, but we will be adding this in the future. To use with twins, you will need to set up an account for each baby.
  • Does Connected Care require a WiFi connection?
  • It will work with either WiFi or cellular data. However, in order for Connected Care to receive your child's data from the Base Station, your Base Station must be connected to the Internet.
  • How do I get the Connected Care app?
  • Download the app from the iTunes Store and log in using your Smart Sock credentials. Every user gets free usage.
  • Can I use my HSA/FSA to purchase an Owlet?
  • Yes! You can easily use your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA). Just add the products you would like to buy to your cart. Once finished, proceed through the checkout process like normal and use your FSA or HSA card in place of your debit/credit card.  The Owlet Smart Sock can also be purchased at FSAstore.com.

  • How can I get a reimbursement?

  • Most HSA and FSA accounts can receive a reimbursement for an Owlet Smart Sock.  You would follow the normal process as any other medical reimbursement claims. You will need to reach out to your HSA or FSA provider for more details.
  • I already ordered, can I still get reimbursed?
  • You should be able to get a reimbursement through your HSA/FSA company so long as you have the receipt. Just contact them to have them help you out with this!
  • Can I split the cost between my HSA and my regular debit card?
  • Sadly, our system only allows one credit or debit card to be used. However, you can seek a reimbursement for the purchase from your HSA provider.
  • Can this option be used with Affirm? Do I have to buy it outright with my HSA/FSA?
  • Using an FSA or FSA card at checkout would replace the use of Affirm. To use your FSA card, you will need to use that at checkout. You could use Affirm and then seek a reimbursement if you have an HSA.
  • Does insurance cover this?
  • The Owlet is only covered by individuals with insurance that comes with an FSA or HSA plan. In that case, you can use the Debit/Credit card that you would normally use for medical expenses to pay for the Owlet.
  • How can you store your Smart Sock?
  • The Smart Sock sensor contains a small battery which will drain over longer periods of time. If allowed to drain completely, it can affect the sensor’s ability to recover its original properties.  There are 6 steps to success for storing your Smart Sock.

    1. Fully charge sensor from the powered base station (ensure the base station is plugged in when charging the sensor.
    2. Unplug the sensor from the base station.
    3. Power down sensor right after unplugging from the base station. 
    4. Unplug base station. 
    5. Store the sensor and the base station in a cool dry place.
    6. Recharge sensor every 6 months and follow steps 1-5.
