The Rainbow Project: How No Foot Too Small Helps Families Find Joy in Grief

Owlet Cares is our advocacy initiative that is dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of babies and parents. One way we do this is by partnering with nonprofits all over the world who share our mission. These groups participate in our 3:1 match program. When they purchase one Owlet product, we match it with two, meaning three families are reached.

Each month, we shine a spotlight on one of our foundation partners and the important work they are doing. This month, in honor of National Rainbow Baby Day on August 22, we are proud to spotlight our partner No Foot Too Small and the incredible work they are doing to support families experiencing pregnancies after loss through their “Rainbow Baby Project.”

In their words, here is more about their program.

By: No Foot Too Small Team

Founded by Robin and Ryan Boudreau, No Foot Too Small was inspired by the loss of their son Beau in 2013. Born out of a desire to drive national awareness of pregnancy and infant loss, our mission is simple: Celebrate angels. Unite families. Build birthing and bereavement suites.

No Foot Too Small welcomes as many as ten new families a day, and they often join for more than just immediate support—it's a lifelong relationship. We stand by families as they navigate the heartache of losing a baby and, in many cases, have the joy of witnessing these families welcome a rainbow baby born after loss.

Pregnancies following a loss come with their own set of challenges and fears. Understanding this, No Foot Too Small launched the Rainbow Baby Project to offer extra support. The program was designed to help families have a space to celebrate and find joy amidst grief.

Each month, our team selects two loss families expecting another child and gifts them a basket filled with items to support them through pregnancy, delivery, and the journey home. This includes an Owlet® Dream Duo, generously donated through the Owlet Cares program. One loss mom and recent recipient shares her story and what this program has meant to hear family:

“Wade was a full-term stillborn. With many unknowns the first few months, I didn’t know where to turn. I thought the grief would get better over time, but at this point, it was like a roller coaster every day. When I first learned about No Foot Too Small, I was unsure if I wanted to attend the Moms' group. While I was overwhelmed walking in, it didn’t take long to realize this was exactly where I needed to be. The other moms were so supportive, encouraging, and understanding. My mental health has been better since joining the Ames group. I didn’t realize how much I needed to surround myself with other loss moms. Unfortunately, we have all experienced a loss; however, we are able to help each other along the way. I have met so many amazing people that I am grateful to call friends.

Welcoming our precious rainbow baby Ava into the world fills our hearts with joy and gratitude. We know that our angel, Wade, has been watching over us the whole time, guiding and protecting us. This new life is a testament to hope and the love that endures through every storm.

As a parent, there is nothing more precious than the safety and well-being of my child, and Owlet has provided us with an incredible sense of security and peace of mind. Knowing that we can rely on this technology to alert us to any potential issues has significantly reduced our anxiety and improved our quality of sleep.”

To complement the Rainbow Baby Project, we also began offering a Virtual Moms' Group called “Pregnancy After Loss”. This group provides a crucial space for mothers navigating the complexities of a subsequent pregnancy after experiencing perinatal loss. It's important for those who have faced such profound challenges to have access to empathetic peers who understand their unique struggles and emotions. By sharing experiences and offering mutual support, members of the group can help each other cope with fears and uncertainties, fostering a sense of community and hope during this sensitive time.
